Air Kisses
I have spent the past couple of evenings rebuilding my PC. New disk drive, new display, new operating system...you know the score. Well, I did rescue the machine from a skip, so I guess I had to expect drive failures at some point. Nice to be back up and running again though.

Spent this evening out in town with my friend Ian Lawrence and various media lovies at the Broadway Cinema Bar (nice slide show) and Revolution; a depressing Vodka bar populated by snogging couples, more luvies and painfully thin barmaids modelling themselves on Hello Magazine's favourite air-head, Victoria Beckham. A speeded-up 'Beat it' by Michael Jackson pumped away as farewell air-kisses flowed like sick (very John Cooper Clarke, that line!). But it was good to meet some of the Second Wednesday members, including the people responsible for the inspired viral marketing site, Beg Nottingham

Of course, most of the people in these establishments have none of the responsibilities that I have. They will not go home and have to feed a newborn at one in the morning and they wont have to do parents evening stuff before they go out either. Still, I know which lifestyle I find more fulfilling and real kisses count far more than air-kisses.

Gilbert was white, limp and unresponsive when Clare and I picked him up from my Mothers on Wednesday. There followed a silent dash to the QMC for tests. We were so terrified that we never spoke a word the whole journey. I had booked the afternoon off work, but this kind of activity wasn't exactly what I had in mind.

As the afternoon progressed, with various tests, diahorrea explosions, chest X-rays and the like, Gilbert began to get back to his normal self and was charming the nurses with his beaming smile. The medicine prescribed by the local GP was doing him more harm than good and the QMC's conclusion was that he was slightly athsmatic and would grow out of it. We were advised to use a nebuliser if he gets bad, but there is little that can be done for him.

I have spent the past few days being quite close to Gilbert which has been great fun and he does appear to be getting better.
