Spotty
Spent most of last week suffering from a bout of German Measels. Some diseases are best left to childhood. This thing managed to confine me to bed for several days with terrible pains and fever. However, by the weekend I was fit enough to escape to London with Clare. It's been many months since we last went to London, and a year since we attended the Gilbert & George seminar at Tate Modern.

This time we spent a couple of days at the Thistle Hotel at Tower Bridge which was very convenient for all the arts venues on Bankside. We even managed to locate Emma Clark's PrintSpace Gallery, even though she wasn't there in person - She was also suffering from some lurgy.

We drank lots of wine and ate lots of rich food cooked up by Conran's Pont De La Tour. And we sheltered from the rain in a million StarBucks. Whilst sitting outside the branch next to the Tate, we saw 60's actress Una Stubbs walk by. It's the second time I've seen her during a London visit. She's looking quite old now and is not quite the 'Young One' who co-starred with Cliff Richard in the film of the same name.

During the weekend we went to the Sam Taylor Wood exhibition at the Haywood which was very good. I'm a big fan of video installations. Outside the Festival Hall I also picked up a copy of 'UFO - Flying Saucers Over Britain' from a book market, the book was one of my favourite UFO conspiracy publications from childhood. I (foolishly) threw out all of my Von Daniken books etc once I realised they were nonsense, but I find them interesting now.
