Memory LapseThe Blog entries have slipped a little. This is mainly due to the fact that my old Sony Vaio laptop decided to 'pop it's clogs' on Sunday evening. - There was a visible flash around the back and then the screen went black. By a stroke of luck (if you can call it that) I'd been having trouble with this machine and backed it up last Thursday, when I reinstalled Windows 98 and everything.
Unfortunately you can't get Sony Vaio's for love nor money, so it's been replaced with a lower cost/higher spec Hewlet Packard machine. This uses Microsoft's Windows XP. So far, barring a couple of minor clitches, I'm very impressed. It hurts me to say that as a Macintosh-user, but as the guys in studio are quick to tell me, I am out of step with current Mac technology.
My Mac enthusiasm is really for a bygone age of graphic user interfaces. A fact borne out by the fact that I've spent weeks trawling through eBay for vintage Macintosh computers - Those all-in-one beige boxes that once cost in excess of two thousand dollars and now go for less than forty!
In response to my eBay scavenging, Clare says she's going to buy me a little three-wheeler Trotters van to sit outside the house. Either that or a horse in the back yard, which really does look like Steptoe's rag n' bone yard!
