Weekend patriotismSaturday morning took Gilbert and the girls to town. He had to have his photograph taken for his passport. Wonder how he will feel about that when he's using it in ten years time? I also bought a Union Flag for Daisy and Hannah was treated to a Pop Idols DVD. The afternoon was spent out in the garden making the most of our heatwave. Well, mowing the grass and repairing the paddling pool at least.
Clare and I had a relaxing evening meal - swordfish - hmmm, tasty and loaded with mercury (apparently?), although these days we tend not to sit outside because we need to be on-hand for Gilbert who at the moment has a habit of moving to the top of his cot, wedging his head against the bars. I've thought about tying a piece of elastic to his ankle to prevent this!
Sunday was more of the same really, although I did have a bit of a sleepy treat in the afternoon when Clare took the children out for a barbeque. It was a welcome relief because I haven't felt too good from the effects of my hayfever which has left me quite breathless the past couple of days.
At teatime I logged onto the BBC website and learned about a fire at Buckingham Palace. - A timely event coinciding with rehearsals for a public pop concert being held there tomorrow night. I wonder which pop pot-smoker was behind the blaze - Cliff Richard perhaps?
In Nottingham there are some brash, popularist Jubilee/World Cup displays on several houses and it might be an idea to go out and get some pictures of them tomorrow. I've emailed Riff to get him out there with a camera as well.
