Back to SchoolYup, it's September again and it's all change. Hannah is off to 'big school' - Arnold Hill Comprehensive and Daisy is off to...errrr...'big school' - Ernehale Junior School. I know that they are both excited, and at the same time, terrified. Weren't we all at this age?
In the 70's
Last weekend we threw a 70's Disco Party for the girls and their school friends. There were some gigantic afro wigs on display, and the boys were sporting stick-on mustaches and sideburns. I'd made up a couple of 70's compilation CDs and was amazed how many of the tracks these kids knew.
Lighting Effects
I guess some of their parents were a bit impressed by our disco mirror ball and multiple oil-wheel spotlights. Little do they know that we have them running virtually every night, and it's been this way for about three years now!
This week has been a bit of a hard slog at work and I've needed to be in three places at once. Sound familiar? But with the 'Nottingham in the 1980's' book now at the publishers, at least I've had some spare time to devote to my website. Last night I was able to update the site with some Apple Newton spoof material, following on from a recent feature on www.wired.com about the 'Cult of the Macintosh'.
Mad 80s stuff
Riff and I have some lighter 80's material to go up on Dreamtargets over the next couple of weeks. I guess we are merely using the web to vent off all the funny, psycho-stuff we knew would get rejected by the publishers. Of course, the book production isn't over yet, there's the proof to go through and then we will be on the treadmill of Local newspaper appearences, leaflets, local exhibitions and a book signing. Looking forward to the 80's themed launch party though. If you want to come, get in touch!
