Back in May, our friend Adam Fisher got married to his long time partner Karen Oakley. This was a great occasion and Chris and I were pleased to attend the reception which was held in a huge marque on the outskirts of Southwell. Apparently, the previous hirer was none other than Richard Branson, so we took great delight in the notion that here we were using said entrepreneur's luxurious toilet facilities.

Adam was remarkably sober for a groom on his wedding day but lost it towards the end of the evening as Riff's photographs clearly indicate. I was appointed the official video cameraman for the event and handled the camera in a way that would not have been out of place in Janet Street Porter's award winning 80s 'yoof' programme Network 7 which combined weird camera angles, on-screen text and pop video-style filming. This activity at least provided an opportunity to move freely around the dancefloor without making a complete idiot of myself, though it felt strange to be operating a video camera again after so many years out of the Audio Visual field.

At one point in the evening we were introduced to a friend of the bride called Helen Rawson who by coincidence had been snapped anonymously by Riff and myself some twenty years ago and is featured in the 'People' section of the 'Nottingham in the 1980s' book.

Another 'Then and Now' incident occured a few weeks later whilst attending a trade show at Earls Court when I met up with old college friend Kath Brown. The first photograph here shows us in 1980 messing around in the old art studio at Clarendon College, (another still from the 80s book). The colour pics taken over two decades later, show a couple of reasonably sensible vagrants being 'best pals' in London's Soho district.
