MANSFIELD - NOTTINGHAM -LEEDS - ARTSCHOOL ARCHIVE

I attended the Graphic Design Diploma Course at West Notts College of FE (Mansfield College of Art) in the late seventies before moving to Clarendon College, Nottingham (Department of Art & Design) in 1978 Here, I completed GCE A-levels in Art History, History of Art and Sociology. The two year course helped build a strong portfolio of life-drawings and contemporary art pieces. I also experimented with audio-tape editing and creative writing.

In 1980 I was accepted on the three year Fine Art Degree Course at Leeds Polytechnic, School of Art & Design. In this highly politicised environment, creative writing and performance art became my core activity. Work with fellow students in the sound-studio developed and I found myself fronting a fully fledged pop-band - The Smart Cookies. Band activity in 1983 introduced me to music technology and the ubiquitous MIDI interface. This interest soon manifest itself in a growing interest in home computing.
