Gaspedal's Ford Chronology
Most of our generation learned to drive in the 1980's.
The
decade when car-culture really took hold in the UK.
Back then, Ford motors, not yet eroded by cheap Japanese
and Eastern European makes were the natural choice
for many. These functional vehicles were occasionally
elevated to higher performance levels: Models like
the Ford Scorpio were adopted by police-forces throughout
the UK and specially tuned so that they could keep
up with the 'bad-lads' in their Sierra Cosworths.
