BIOGRAPHICAL DETAILS
Born in Mansfield, 18th February 1961. The eldest of four boys.
Father worked as a mineworker in Blidworth, Mansfield, Notts.
Attended village schools; Robert Jones Infants/Junior and Joseph
Whitaker Comprehensive.
ART SCHOOL
At sixteen, enroled on a graphic design course at Mansfield
College of Art. 1978, moved to Clarendon College, Nottingham
to gain a few A-level's and concentrate on fine art and art
history. There, I met my life-long friend and collaborator Chris
Richards.
1980 was accepted on the Fine Art Degree Course at Leeds Polytechnic,
then known as a hotbed for 80's pop bands [Soft Cell, The Mekons,
Scritti Politti] Became involved in sound recording and formed
a band called the Smart Cookies.
PUBLISHING
Experience with recording technology assisted the move into
video production and later desktop publishing. This lead to
lucrative work in creative studios around the UK. The late 80's
saw a brief, though light-hearted return to music and video,
and several spoof productions were aired by Channel 4 and Yorkshire
TV.
MULTIMEDIA
Toward the end of the 90's, settled in the midlands to raise
a family with my [then] wife Tracey. Traditional design work
gave way to pioneering multimedia projects and I began working
with blue-chip companies such as GEC, Boots and Raleigh Industries.
Early multimedia work was CD-ROM based, but the arrival of
Mosaic [an early internet browser] in 1994 changed everything.
THE WEB
1995 launched a website for the Development Board for Rural
Wales, the first of many award-winning sites. Have been involved
in website development ever since. I currently live and work
in Nottingham, with my two daughters, Hannah and Daisy, my partner
Clare and a dog called Harry.
