Whitbread advertisement, 1980.

With the introduction of all-day pub opening hours in 1988, and the youth trend of drinking beer directly from the bottle, imported foreign beers began to threaten the locally brewed ales sold in Nottingham pubs, although draught lager such as Ayinger Brau was still popular at this time.
