At this time, other premises on Derby Road included: Halls DIY, Baker & Plumb’s furnishings, Butlers Office Equipment and a parade of antique shops.

The offices to the rear of the Gestetner frontage were occupied by NAAFI (the Navy, Army and Air Force Institutes), HM Forces’ official trading organisation, where administrators programmed cumbersome computers systems with cardboard punch cards.
