The Ice Stadium was opened in Easter 1939 and closed in March 2000. Long serving manager Sandy Sanders retired in 1979 after forty years service.

In its place stands the Ice Arena, which is home to the local ice hockey team the Nottingham Panthers. The venue has recently hosted crowd-pulling acts such as Duran Duran, Tom Jones, Simply Red and Steps.
