Old Market Square in the rain, 1983.

January 1982 saw the coldest night recorded in Nottingham since 1963, the same year that the River Trent burst its banks on 2 January, causing chaos to local residents and businesses.

Queen Street is the junction on the right, which is now dominated by the huge Cornerhouse development, which rises like a neon beacon above the old buildings on Parliament Street.
