Pelham Street, Christmas 1981.

The Christmas shopper in the winter coat is walking between Lafayette’s leather and fur shop on the right, and Maples Furnishers on the left.

The winter of 1981 hit Nottingham hard, and in this year a local telephone company placed the following advertisement: ‘don’t shiver in the hall with that night time call, when a bedside phone costs so little.’
