Sneinton Market, 1988.

Located behind the old Central Market on King Edward Street, which was demolished in 1985, Sneinton Market still serves the local community today.

The 5am opening of ‘Peggers’, a local pub, was a particular benefit for thirsty market traders in the 1980s. Some pubs in this area have undergone name changes, like The Market Side, which later became B & E’s Tavern.

Some of the grocery prices in this picture make for interesting reading!
